my macro work and photography journey

My journey with macro photography began when I was looking for a portrait lens. The camera shop associate asked me what my other interests were when it came to photography. When I told him I liked helping my husband tend our garden, he pulled out a macro lens and told me it was perfect, both for taking great portrait pictures and for capturing the littlest living things in my own backyard. I was sold. I’ve been in love with macro photography ever since. The transition to portrait photography was a natural thing, (since I’ve always taken pictures of my own kids and places we visit when we travel) as family and friends started asking me to take their pictures. It is an ongoing journey and my priority these days. I love to create images that bring happiness to my clients and when I see  them coming for more, my heart overflows with joy.

As my work evolved, I upgraded lenses along with the rest of my gear. I started posting my macro pictures on Instagram and became part of a wonderful community of macro photographers. It’s been a journey filled with beautiful images, amazing friends, and ways to improve my skills as a photographer.

My macro work has been published a couple of times by the makers of my lenses, Tamron. If I’m not photographing people, you can be sure that I’m busy editing, or visiting my favorite gardens, parks, or in my own backyard looking for any macro opportunity.

If you’d like to purchase any of my images, feel free to contact me. They make great gifts and look beautiful on big prints and canvases. Want to show me some love and support? Follow my macro page on Instagram @emerkel_nature . I’d love to see you there!
